ADEX Toolkit for Rockwell Automation’s SoftLogix5800

Photo about ADEX Toolkit for Rockwell Automation’s SoftLogix5800

The ADEX Toolkit for SoftLogix5800 provides control engineers with the necessary tools to apply the ADEX control methodology in their process control schemas. Using the ADEX Toolkit for SoftLogix5800 combines the benefits of both the adaptive predictive expert (ADEX) control methodology with the possibilities available through Rockwell Automation’s Logix platforms. The ADEX Toolkit for SoftLogix5800 includes both Help files that briefly explain the toolkit’s blocks and parameters, as well as a complete user manual. It also includes a selection of illustrative examples of ADEX applications.

  • Integration of the ADEX control methodology in Rockwell Automation’s Logix platform.
  • In few steps it’s possible to implement optimized control strategies based on ADEX Controllers within Rockwell Automation industrial control systems by means of the SoftLogix5800 virtual controller.
  • With the RSLogix 5000 programming and configuration tool, and by using any of the IEC 61131-3 standard languages, ADEX Controllers can be integrated into the logic designed by the user for the development of control and optimization strategies (COS).
  • The ADEX Toolkit Installer includes the ADEX Configurator whose intuitive graphic interface allows users to easily configure the implemented controllers.

Integration of ADEX Controllers

Thanks to the SoftLogix5800 controller capacities to execute external routines (routines developed outside of the RSLogix 5000 programming environment) as part of an RSLogix 5000 project, ADEX Controllers can be executed in SoftLogix5800 controllers. ADEX Controllers are added to the project organizer in the same way that a new routine ladder is added.

Toolkit Routines

The ADEX Toolkit has two routines. The first routine consists of an initialization function of the ADEX system, and the second is the ADEX controller. ADEX Controllers allow for a configuration of up to 9 inputs and 3 outputs, for multivariable processes with measurable perturbations.

ADEX Configurator

Finally, the toolkit also includes a tool known as the ADEX Configurator that allows for the parameterization of controllers by means of TCP communication. The Configurator is characterized by its simplicity since within it both the controller and its different blocks are represented graphically, which facilitates its understanding and configuration.
