Predictive Control

"Difficulties are great until the solution is found. Then everything becomes easy."

Calderón de la Barca, Spanish playwright.

Description:

Predictive control was introduced in a patent in 1976 and was the first precursor to the ADEX methodology. The abstract of this patent read:

"The adaptive predictive control system of the present invention updates on real time the parameters of an Adaptive-Predictive Model from which the dynamic output vector of the process being controlled is predicted and the control vector controlling the operation of this process is computed with the objective that the predicted dynamic output vector becomes equal to the desired dynamic output vector."

Predictive Control is a crucial concept in the domain of process control.

The key conclusion to take away from predictive control is that it makes predicted outcomes equal desired outcomes, that is Predicted = Desired.
