ADEX Optimised Control for the “Financiera y Minera” Cement Plant in Malaga

In News — May 23 2010

ADEX has been contracted to supply, install, configure and maintain an Optimized Control System for the grate coolers and the cement kiln calcinator at the Malaga cement works of the company ‘Financiera y Minera’ of the Italcementi Group. The plant in Malaga consists of a line with vertical raw mill, kiln and 3 clinker mills with a cement production capacity of 1,575,000 tons per year.

The optimized control of the cooler is aimed at stabilizing the layer of clinker on top of the grates, the flow rates of air crossing them, and the pressure at the head of the kiln. The purpose of this is to recover the maximum amount of energy from the secondary air entering the kiln and at the same time, keep the exit gas temperature bounded and stable. In addition, the optimised control of the calcinator will stabilize the gas exit temperatures by acting on the relative contribution of the various fuels, resulting in an improvement in energy savings and an improved utilization of alternative fuels, particularly tyres.
