ADEX has successfully completed the first milestone of the ADEX-SGAP project, which is co-financed by the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda of Spainandthe European Regional Development Fund. This project aims at the development of an ADEX Generic High Performance System (ADEX-GHPS), which will allow to configure the optimized control strategies of ADEX Systems to control processes demanding real-time and deterministic performance in microseconds. In fact, ADEX-GHPS will be applied to the critical accelerator processes of the MYRRHA transmutation reactor, ensuring its viability and optimized operation. MYRRHA aims to become the first midsize demonstrator of a transmutation facility capable of incinerating nuclear waste. The EU FP7 MYRRHA Accelerator eXperiment (MAX) project, with the participation of CNRS, CEA and SCK • CEN, showed that the Adaptive Predictive Expert technology (ADEX) was ideal for the development of the intelligent control of the accelerator processes. ADEX-GHPS will allow ADEX to penetrate the incipient and promising market of particle accelerators and to be a qualified candidate to develop the MYRRHA accelerator control system. In this first project milestone the ADEX-GHPS hardware environment has been defined and the software control tools necessary to configure control strategies in this environment have been developed. Additionally, critical processes in particle acceleration, such as radio frequency, resonance frequency and beam current generation have been studied and simulated, providing the necessary test bench for future steps in the project.   The ADEX-GHPS project is co-financed by the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda, within the National Plan for Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation 2013-2016, with file number TSI-100111-2017-4, and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
